EDIT: This originally omitted SMU as a Power 5 school to not host College GameDay. That has been corrected.

Through Week 5 of the 2024 college football season, there are only seven Power 5 conference schools that ESPN’s College GameDay has not done a live show from. By the time Week 6 is complete, that list will have one less member.

At halftime of Saturday’s SEC clash between Georgia and Alabama, it was announced that College GameDay will be in Berkeley for Week 6 for the matchup between new ACC rivals, Miami and Cal.

“Next weekend, College GameDay going into uncharted territory,” Rece Davis said. “No. 7 Miami, which escaped Virginia Tech on Friday night — we are going to Cal. Never been to Cal. So the sturdy Golden Bears will welcome GameDay. Now we’re down to — five power conference teams that have not hosted GameDay.”

“Last time I’ve been to Cal was to work out Aaron Rodgers. That’s a long time ago,” replied Nick Saban, who was entering his first year as head coach of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins when Rodgers was drafted in 2005.

College GameDay also shared their announcement on the show’s X (formerly Twitter) page.

As Davis noted, GameDay being on the West Coast means an early local start time — 6 a.m. in Berkeley.

Once Cal hosts College GameDay, the remaining schools to not host the longtime pregame show will be Rutgers, Illinois, Maryland, Syracuse, SMU, and Virginia.
