On Tuesday at The Walt Disney Company’s Upfront, ESPN announced that Chris Paul will join its NBA Countdown show for the 2024 Eastern Conference Finals.

Fresh off Golden State’s play-in loss to the Sacramento Kings, the 12-time NBA All-Star has officially landed a guest analyst role with the Worldwide Leader. This is a nice step toward a potential future media career for the 39-year-old Paul.

According to ESPN’s release, Paul will serve as a pregame and halftime analyst throughout the Eastern Conference Finals, which will feature either the New York Knicks or Indiana Pacers versus the Boston Celtics or Cleveland Cavaliers.

Paul will appear on NBA Countdown alongside host Malika Andrews, analysts Stephen A. Smith, Bob Myers, Michael Wilbon, and senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski. NBA Countdown airs one hour before the ECF games on ESPN and 30 minutes before ABC games.

“Every game takes on a life of its own, so every game is different home and away,” Paul said at the Disney Upfront event via Barrett Sports Media. “…Every game is different, so those guys are trying to figure out what they’ve got to do to get a win.”

Paul has many ventures outside his playing career and this newfound media gig with ESPN. He’s also an investor in the streaming platform PlayersTV on the production side; his company, Ohh Dip!!!, will create content for the platform.

Paul’s basketball IQ and leadership have been noteworthy for nearly two decades. Now, he can share that knowledge with fans as a guest analyst. This guest spot could be the start of a long and successful media career for CP3—if that’s what he aspires to.
