Shannon Sharpe and Cam Newton on First Take Photo credit: ESPN

It’s been more than a month since Shannon Sharpe accidentally went on Instagram Live during an afternoon delight, but Cam Newton did not forget.

Newton made his First Take debut Friday morning, after ESPN announced it signed the former NFL MVP to be a regular contributor on Stephen A. Smith’s show. And with First Take on the road and in front of a live audience at Tennessee State University, Newton weighed in on Smith’s list of homecoming essentials.

“It’s the party, Stephen A. We ain’t worried about class, we ain’t worried about food,” Newton said, prompting Smith to defend his list by claiming it was Sharpe who brought up food.

Sharpe, however, decided to get wild by saying, “No, I worry about something else, but we can’t say that.”

And just in case there was any doubt about who or what Sharpe was worrying about, without hesitation, Newton said, “Watch out, Michelle,” causing chaos on set. The timeliness of Newton’s joke was so good it almost seemed like a set up. Kind of like the perplexing timeliness of accidentally jumping on Instagram Live during a sexual encounter.

“We gotta go to break! We gotta go to commercial!” Smith yelled, repeating “We gotta go to commercial!” with urgency about five times.

By now, you’re probably aware Sharpe accidentally allowed the world to listen in on him having sex last month by an oddly timed Instagram Live broadcast. But just in case you didn’t listen to that broadcast closely, Sharpe’s Instagram Live audience was able to hear him utter the name “Michelle” during the encounter. Hence Newton’s impeccably timed “Watch out, Michelle” comment to highlight his First Take debut.
