Adam Thielen has a standing seat on NFL Live.

The former Vikings receiver is joining ESPN’s studio show every Wednesday throughout the 2026 season, according to Adam Schefter, and will debut Wednesday alongside Molly McGrath, Dan Orlovsky, and Andrew Hawkins. It’s the culmination of a fast climb for Thielen, who’s gone from retired player to regular ESPN panelist in about eight months.

Thielen announced his retirement from the NFL in January after 13 seasons, most of them with the Minnesota Vikings. Less than two weeks later, he appeared on NFL Network to offer his thoughts on NFL GameDay Live, signaling a desire to start his media career quickly.

And he hasn’t wasted much time since.

The bigger opportunity came in July, when ESPN laid off (or fired) Ryan Clark, opening a seat on NFL Live next to Laura Rutledge, Mina Kimes, Orlovsky and Marcus Spears. Thielen filled the void for a two-day audition and drew immediate praise, including from Schefter himself, who cited Thielen’s read on the Vikings’ quarterback competition between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy — who was later “forced” to be a backup — as reason enough to believe the job was Murray’s to lose.

The weekly role also lands amid a larger overhaul of ESPN’s NFL studio lineup as the network absorbs talent displaced from NFL Network — Kyle Brandt is joining the Monday edition of NFL Live for three weeks this fall — and Thielen seems to be the latest name benefiting from the reshuffling that followed Clark’s ouster and Peter Schrager’s departure for his own afternoon show.
