To do live television, one must be able to adapt quickly to breaking developments. That’s the position ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter found himself in on Thursday evening.

Schefter was giving NFL updates on Thursday’s SportsCenter. During an update about the health of Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith, Schefter received an unrelated breaking update. He jumped right into it.

“Kevin, hold on. Hold on,” Schefter said to host Kevin Negandhi. “We are getting breaking news that is just in right now. Bryce Underwood, ESPN’s No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2025, is flipping his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines. He told school officials today, a huge day for Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore, as they land the highest-rated recruit in school history. He was supposed to go to LSU to be with Brian Kelly. And now, he apparently is flipping his commitment and going to the Michigan Wolverines. They land their standout prized quarterback.”

Schefter later shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

For Schefter, a Michigan graduate, we can only guess that this was a particularly fun update to share.
