After his now-infamous inappropriate and racist remarks at a Donald Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe might reportedly lose his deal with DraftKings.
During his appearance at the rally, the Kill Tony podcast host referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.” Among the other racist stereotypes that Hinchcliffe mentioned was saying that Latinos “love making babies,” and pointing to a Black man in the crowd and making a watermelon joke.
Hinchcliffe later said on X that his joke was “taken out of context” by critics and that he “made fun of everyone.”
The Trump campaign later tried to distance themselves from Hinchcliffe’s Puerto Rico comments, saying “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”
According to Front Office Sports‘ A.J. Perez, DraftKings may want to distance themselves from Hinchcliffe as well. A source told him the sports betting company is “evaluating the Austin-based comedian’s status as an ambassador.”
DraftKings is plastered all over Hinchcliffe’s social media profiles, website, and his podcast. However, several promotional social media posts involving DraftKings appear to have been deleted. The most recent post on X involving DraftKings is now from June.
DraftKings also issued a statement, saying “The commentary made by Tony Hinchcliffe does not reflect the views of DraftKings.”
Hinchcliffe appeared on ESPN”s College GameDay last weekend and caused a stir when made several jokes about the LGBTQ+ community during a Pat McAfee kicking segment. Perez noted that Hinchcliffe has also appeared on The Pat McAfee Show during the hour when it’s not broadcast on ESPN.
