Bryce Underwood, considered by many as the No. 1 in the Class of 2025, flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan on Thursday, sending shockwaves through the college football recruiting world.
Turns out, to land this rising quarterback, Michigan called in a favor from a previous one.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, former Wolverines signal-caller and current Fox broadcaster Tom Brady has been putting in the work to get Underwood to commit for several weeks. The two had a FaceTime conversation “a few weeks ago” as part of an all-out blitz by Sherrone Moore’s program to get the quarterback to flip his commitment.
Per Zenitz, Brady told Underwood that he would be a resource for him, one of the many things that caused the five-star Michigan native to realize he’d like to stay closer to home next year.
Brady, who played for Michigan between 1995 and 1999, has his hand in a lot of honey jars these days. While most broadcasters would be content to focus on their craft, the seven-time Super Bowl champion also recently became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and has various companies, projects, and roles that pull at his attention.
They don’t pull enough to distract him from helping out the Wolverines when needed, however.
