On Tuesday, South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer made it a point to share how the recently released Netflix docuseries on the conference, SEC Football: Any Given Saturday, has caused a bit of controversy in his household in regards to his wife’s baking abilities.

For the most part, the South Carolina football program was largely painted in a positive light throughout the docuseries, highlighting the Gamecocks’ first nine-win season since 2017 last year. But interestingly, it was Emily Beamer who became a talking point from how fans perceived her on the show.

In episode five of SEC Football: Any Given Saturday, Emily Beamer was seen baking cookies, which are regularly given out to players after every Thursday practice.

Seems innocent enough, right? Well, it turns out, she has been subjected to a number of comments on Instagram about how she isn’t letting the cookies bake long enough, a topic that her husband Shane Beamer addressed during his press conference on Tuesday.

“I do have a statement to make,” said Beamer. “I think my wife is getting some undue criticism on the cookies she makes. That’s in episode five, I believe. She’s actually had people that have reached out to her on Netflix telling her that she’s not cooking the cookies long enough. Much respect for the people that took the time to reach out to her to criticize her for her cookies, but the cookies are the freaking bomb, just so you guys know.  I’ve got my girl’s back.

“She’s been making those cookies when I was an assistant coach. She’s been making those cookies for my position group that I coached, so the running backs at Virginia Tech, or the tight ends at Georgia, or the tight ends at Oklahoma. And now what you saw in that episode was her making the cookies. She does it every Thursday for all the people in this building.

“To the people who reached out to her on the Instagram to criticize her and tell her that she isn’t cooking them long enough, come up here on a Thursday after practice when I put those cookies out and see how fast they are devoured and gone. Because they are gone in about five minutes. Reach out to any tight end at the University of Oklahoma from 2018 to 2020. Or Georgia tight ends in 16′ and 17′, or any Virginia Tech running back if you want to ask about the cookies. I got her back, I’ll say that. The cookies are awesome, she is cooking them the right way.”

Perhaps we will see some current South Carolina players, or some of Beamer’s former players at one of his past coaching stops further hammer home his point about the cookies being cooked correctly. After defending her cookies publicly, chances are there will be plenty more cookies to come from Emily Beamer in the future.
