Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has fielded many questions this year on sensational freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
Friday, he got a question from a reporter named Jeremiah Smith. Day had the perfect response.
Day held a media session with reporters previewing the Buckeyes’ Cotton Bowl matchup against Texas. Day went along in typically serious fashion, until about 20 minutes into the session.
“Coach, the next question will come from Jeremiah Smith,” the moderator said. “Jeremiah, go ahead.”
The minute Day heard the name “Jeremiah Smith,” you could see him suppressing a slight smile. He waited for the question, but you could almost sense him preparing a one-liner.
“Hey coach, Will [Howard] looked maybe the most comfortable he’s looked all season against Oregon,” the other Jeremiah Smith asked. “How do you, going into this game, capitalize on that confidence, that momentum, how do you really make that count for you?”
“We’ll just keep throwing it to you,” Day joked.
“Yeah, I know, it’s great,” the other Jeremiah Smith responded. “I’ve reminded my family many times how amazing they did week in and week out.”
Day got a good laugh out of the exchange, along with other reporters.

The Jeremiah Smith who plays for the Buckeyes is being hailed as potential future No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. He had 187 yards and two touchdowns in Ohio State’s win over Oregon Wednesday.
The Julio Jones comps are normally forbidden but in Jeremiah Smith’s case it may be warranted

No wonder Dan Orlovsky said this week that NFL teams will “tank” for the chance to draft Smith.
