No. 8 Florida entered Saturday riding high with an unbeaten record that featured a 52-28 win over then-No. 4 Ole Miss last week, but those good feelings were shattered at the hands of No. 25 Missouri.
Mizzou steamrolled Florida 45-17 in an SEC showdown on Saturday in Columbia. After the game was tied 10-10 in the second quarter, the Tigers went on to outscore the Gators 35-7 the rest of the way. It’s one loss on the road to a ranked team, but getting blown out like that certainly isn’t great for Florida’s College Football Playoff résumé.
During his postgame press conference, Florida head coach Jon Sumrall made it clear that he was “livid” about the “embarrassing performance” by the Gators.

“We did not play to our standard,” Sumrall told the media. “Embarrassing performance in every phase. Starts with the coaching. Starts with me… I’m sick to my freakin’ stomach with what we just did. Like, livid.”
Jon Sumrall didn’t hold back after Florida was blown out at Missouri 45-17. He said winning has masked this team’s deficiencies.

“You don’t have that performance today and not have some sort of sickness in your stomach about what we just did,” Sumrall continued. “Like I said, if there’s guys on our football team that don’t own that, they won’t be on this football team very long. I don’t really care. We’re going to play with guys that are tough and love football, or are committed to their development and improving as a team; which you can see, we’ve got a lot of improvement to do.”
Florida will look to get back on track vs. South Carolina next Saturday in Gainesville before going on the road to take on No. 1 Texas in Week 7.
