Last week, Colorado football found itself in the spotlight. Unlike last year, though, not all of it was as rosy.

A former Colorado player, one of the many who left the program after Deion Sanders arrived, spoke about their time and the treatment they and others received. There were plenty of favorable reactions to the former players. Then, there was Deion and his son Shedeur.

A week later, Sanders and the Buffs have gone quiet. It’s not that everyone has forgotten, but it’s certainly fallen out of the news cycle. Deion revealed this week why it all happened.

In a word… boredom.

“I gotta do better on that,” Sanders admitted. “And not ride with it. But I was bored.”

Sanders also claimed he didn’t attack anybody and doesn’t think he did anything wrong. That’s not too surprising, but in this situation, Sanders probably did do something wrong. He didn’t show restraint. Boredom shouldn’t cause a college football coach to start tweeting at recruits or former players. In this case, whether he thinks he did anything wrong might not be up to him.

It’s the optics of the situation and how it’s perceived and portrayed. Those are the issues, and that’s why many felt Deion did something wrong last week amid the social media hullabaloo.
