Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is one of the most high-profile Michigan Wolverines fans on the planet, which makes him an obvious target for hijinks from Ohio State Buckeyes fans. Apparently, Portnoy isn’t even safe at his own home.
During Saturday morning’s episode of Big Noon Kickoff, the studio crew discussed the high-profile matchups between Big Ten and SEC teams this weekend when Portnoy argued that these big-game matchups are what make college football great.
Portnoy then shared a story about an Ohio State fan who, he claims, planted a flag in his yard after the Buckeyes won the 2024 national championship.
“I’ve got a lunatic. This Ohio State fan there – I live in the Florida Keys. That guy, the day after Ohio State won the national championship, planted a flag in the Florida Keys at my house,” Portnoy said as the camera panned to a man wearing a black Ohio State jersey in the crowd.

“That guy, right there, planted a flag in my driveway,” Portnoy said. “Fans are what make college football great. You need games like this to keep it great.”
The rest of the Big Noon team clarified again that Portnoy was talking about that specific Ohio State fan in the crowd, and he confirmed it.
“That guy’s a lunatic,” Portnoy said.
Charles Woodson then asked if they needed to call security on the fan.
“No, this is what makes football football,” Portnoy said. “He’s a lunatic. I hate his guts. But the flag was there the day after they won.”
College football’s most intense rivalry is many things, but never boring.
