We’re not saying Brock Osweiler made Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe fumble the football during the Reliaquest Bowl, but surely, some fans will.
The rain was coming down in droves during the first quarter of Alabama’s bowl matchup with Michigan Tuesday afternoon from Tampa, Florida. Naturally, Osweiler, who was calling the game alongside play-by-play voice Dave Flemming, sought to remind the audience how important it is to protect the football during inclement weather, as any analyst would. But any analyst might not have the power to turn that analysis into a jinx.
“Ball security is going to be paramount until this rain slows down.”

“I’ve been a part of a lot of football games and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen rain like this,” Osweiler admitted. “Ball security is going to be paramount until this rain slows down a bit.”
Ball security in the rain, you say? And with that, boom, fumble. Alabama snapped the ball to Milroe who saw it bounce off his hands before having any chance at handing it off. Impressively, less than five seconds passed between Osweiler preaching the importance of ball security in the rain and Alabama proceeding to fumble the football.
Some fans will still blame the fumble on Milroe, who went on to commit three turnovers in the first quarter alone. Others will blame it on the rain that was fallin’, fallin’. But true announcer jinx believers will blame it on Osweiler.
