Kansas State was blown out 91-62 by Cincinnati in men’s college basketball action on Wednesday night in Manhattan, KS, and Wildcats head coach Jerome Tang ripped his players during the postgame press conference.
“This was embarrassing,” Tang told the media in a postgame tirade. These dudes do not deserve to wear this uniform. There will be very few of them in it next year. I’m embarrassed for the university. I’m embarrassed for our fans, our student section. It is just ridiculous.”
Jerome Tang spoke for just over 2 minutes following K-State’s 29-point loss to Cincinnati. The Wildcats have lost their last 2 home games by a combined 63 points.

“We got practice at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning, and we will get this thing right,” Tang continued. “I have no answer, no words. Y’all got two questions. So, whoever wants to ask two questions, I’ll answer them to the best of my ability right now. But right now, I’m like pissed.”
“These dudes got to have some pride, man,” Tang added. “It means something to wear a K-State uniform. It means something to put on this purple, and everything this university is about and why I love this place. They don’t love this place, so they don’t deserve to be here.”
Kansas State is now 10-14 on the season and 1-10 in Big 12 play. The Wildcats have lost each of their last three home games by at least 24 points.
Things have gotten so bad that some Kansas State students wore paper bags over their heads at Wednesday night’s game.

One paper bag included a message mentioning $18,675,000, alluding to the buyout amount for Tang’s contract.

“I’d wear a paper bag, too, if I was them,” Tang said about the fans to conclude his press conference.
Kansas State went to the Elite Eight in year one under Tang in the 2022-23 season, but the Wildcats followed that with a 19-15 record in the 2023-24 season, a 16-17 record this season, and things are really going downhill in year four.
