Verne Lundquist has been celebrated over the last 12 months as he stepped down as the voice of SEC football on CBS and his broadcasting career approaches the finish line. The 76 year old broadcaster got to enjoy an encore of the SEC on CBS as the Elite 8 game he called was an All-SEC matchup between Florida and South Carolina. In just a couple weeks time, he will return to his familiar perch at the 16th hole at Augusta National for the Masters.

But in all the tributes and profiles of Lundquist to come out in recent months, this story from CBS Sunday Morning showed fans a new side of the venerable broadcaster and something they might not have known about – Lundquist’s love of music and his adopted hometown of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
