CBS put a bow on their coverage of the PGA Tour for the 2025 season this past weekend at the Wyndham Championship. And according to the network, it was their best year of golf coverage in terms of viewership in quite some time.

In a press release on Tuesday, the network revealed both their viewership numbers for the Wyndham Championship and for their golf season as a whole for the 2025 season. And by all accounts, the ratings were largely positive compared to past years.

An average of 1.951 million viewers tuned into the final round of the Wyndham Championship, which marks the highest final-round viewership of the event in the last five years. It is also up 36 percent from the 2024 numbers, which is somewhat expected considering last year’s Wyndham Championship was directly competing with the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Notably, Sunday’s broadcast did feature the emotional sendoff of long-time CBS golf analyst Ian Baker-Finch, who retired after 19 years at the network. So perhaps longtime golf fans wanted to tune in to see the proper sendoff for Baker-Finch, who has been a staple of CBS’s golf coverage.

Either way, this year-over-year increase at the Wyndham Championship for CBS puts an exclamation point on what was overall an incredibly successful year of coverage for the network.

Including the two major championships (Masters, PGA Championship) that the network covered, CBS golf telecasts averaged 2.97 million viewers in 2025, which marks a 17 percent year-over-year increase from 2024. Even when you remove the major championships the network covered, it was still a success for the sport as CBS averaged 2.16 million viewers for its PGA Tour events in 2025, which marks marking a 21% increase from 2024 and its highest viewership of PGA Tour events since 2022 according to Sports Business Journal.

It will be interesting to see whether PGA Tour broadcasts as a whole finish on a strong note in 2025. The remaining three PGA Tour events on the 2025 schedule, which includes the Tour Championship later this month, will all be aired on NBC. But regardless, CBS has to be pleased with how 2025 went in terms of their golf coverage.
