The Buffalo Bills were in the midst of putting the finishing touches on their win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday when CBS play-by-play announcer Spero Dedes and color commentator Adam Archuleta got into a discussion about grooming.

Archuleta buttoned up the conversation by saying, “One has to ask themselves, a $30 tie or a $30 mustache.” Dedes then replies, “Can we get you to grow the stache by next week?” And that’s when Archuleta responds, a little too confidently, that he “could probably squeeze out maybe a Dirty Sanchez, not really a full stache.”

That’s…uh…

Well…

Okay…

See here’s the thing. The Dirty Sanchez is not a reference to an actual mustache made out of facial hair. It’s a reference to a very different kind of mustache that we’re not going to explain outright but if you need further information you can always refer to the Urban Dictionary.

So that’s not the best thing to infer during a live national broadcast that reaches millions of people on the same TV network that is known for “60 Minutes” and “NCIS”!

Also, if we take this unfortunate extrapolation even further, it has been posited that the term can also be used in a derogatory fashion to refer to a Mexican person’s mustache.

Also not great!

As you probably figured, this one was noticed by quite a few people…

Gonna be a very, very awkward training session between Archuleta and the CBS HR staff on Monday. Also, not sure if this will end up helping or hurting the duo in next year’s Awful Announcing’s NFL Announcer Rankings.
