Boxers are told to “protect themselves at all times” during a fight. In Sunday’s USBA heavyweight title bout between Brandon Moore and Skylar Lacy, that also applied to those around the ring.
With the two fighters tied up in the final minute of the third round, Lacy began to walk Moore back to the corner. In doing so, the two fighters crashed into DAZN’s cameraman, who was standing on the corner shooting the fight.

The cameraman fell down, leading to a brief time-out in the fight. The cameraman quickly got back to his feet and continued shooting the fight. That was the good news. The bad news? The fight continued.
Because as bad as that was, things somehow got worse.
As the fight grew longer, it became something more akin to what we might have seen in WWE’s Royal Rumble on Saturday. That came to a head in the eighth round. Lacy, who was penalized three times for holding, once again had Moore tied up. He led Moore to the ropes, which resulted in both men falling out of the ring, through the announce table.
“This fight should have been stopped two rounds ago,” Chris Mannix said. “How embarrassing is it that this fight has been allowed to continue?”
Thankfully, for the sake of both fighters, the referee and anyone else near the ring, that was the final straw. Referee Steve Willis counted as both fighters remained outside of the ring. When his count got to 16, he mercifully called the fight.

In his writeup of the fight, Forbes’ Trent Reinsmith said, “As a co-main event, this fight disappointed.”
We couldn’t possibly disagree with that.
