Dan “Big Cat” Katz and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers have had a love/hate relationship for quite some time due to Katz’s longtime fandom of the Chicago Bears. And according to Eric Sollenberger, better known as PFT Commenter, Katz’s longtime co-host on Pardon My Take, the two haven’t exactly been close as of late. Especially after Rodgers lied to Katz about what his active phone number was.
On Tuesday’s edition of the Macrodosing podcast, hosted by PFT Commenter and former NFL running back turned Barstool Sports personality Arian Foster, PFT Commenter shared some insight as to why Rodgers hasn’t appeared on Pardon My Take in nearly a year.
According to PFT Commenter, Rodgers and Katz actually saw one another at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament last weekend, where Rodgers told Katz, who had been texting him, that he had changed his phone number. Katz would later learn that Rodgers actually hadn’t changed his number and that Rodgers appeared to simply be avoiding him.
“I have a little story to tell you about Aaron,” said PFT Commenter. “So he was at the golf tournament this weekend. Big Cat had been texting him and ran into him. And Aaron said, ‘Oh yeah, my bad, I changed my phone number.’ And so Big Cat is like, ‘Okay cool, well I’ll just hit you up on that new one.’ He got Aaron’s new phone number from a friend. The phone number was the exact same phone number that Big Cat had been texting. And Aaron had just lied to him by saying he had changed his number. That’s why he hadn’t gotten back in touch with him.”

Unfortunately for Rodgers, lying to Katz about what his number was had some unforeseen consequences.
PFT Commenter later explained that upon learning that Rodgers had claimed to have changed his number, he jokingly gave what he thought was Rodgers’ deactivated number to Barstool’s “Jersey Jerry”, a huge Steelers fan, only for it to actually still be Rodgers’ number.
“When Big Cat told me ‘Hey, the reason why we haven’t been in touch with Aaron is because he changed his phone number,’ I thought it would be funny to then at that point send Aaron’s deactivated number to our good friend Jersey Jerry,” added PFT Commenter. “And then I find out that it’s actually still his number. And now, through this course of events, Jersey Jerry has Aaron Rodgers’ actual phone number. But, you know what, that’s what Aaron Rodgers gets for lying about changing his number.”
To be fair to Rodgers, Big Cat in particular has never exactly been someone who is rooting for his success, once famously telling Rodgers that he looks forward to watching him lose in the playoffs as his own form of Super Bowl. So it’s at least somewhat understandable that Rodgers wouldn’t want to be overly friendly to Big Cat.
Still, it is a bit of a bad look for Rodgers to be caught in a lie like this. And depending on how frequently Jersey Jerry actually tries to reach out to Rodgers in the future, he may actually need to change his number in the near future.
