While much of the focus regarding Barstool Sports’ new partnership with Fox Sports has been placed on Dave Portnoy’s presence on Big Noon Kickoff, perhaps the bigger story is the new morning show that is coming to FS1.
On the latest episode of Pardon My Take, hosts Dan “Big Cat” Katz and PFTCommenter addressed the company’s new connection to Fox Sports. And while reiterating that it will be different from their short-lived partnership ESPN in 2017, they also laid their vision for the upcoming daily program, which will air Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. ET.
“It’s gonna be an ensemble. So PFT will be on it from time to time. I’ll be on it from time to time,” Katz said. “But it’s not going to take away from what we do here.”
“It’s gonna be a mix of everybody in this office and people that might not be in this office right now that might stop in,” PFTCommenter added. “I don’t expect to be spending a full-time job’s worth of time going on the show, but I’ll try to make it on like once a week is what we discussed. Something in that neighborhood and that way it’s not gonna cannibalize Pardon My Take.”
To that end, Katz stated that it’s unlikely that he and his PMT co-host will be going on the unnamed daily show at the same time in order to preserve such appearances for what has become Barstool Sports’ flagship podcast. Both PMT stars, however, stated that they planned to appear on the FS1 show on a weekly basis.
Based on both hosts’ comments, it sounds like we can expect a variety of Barstool Sports personalities to be featured on the show, especially those who work out of the company’s Chicago office. Such talents include Barstool’s resident college football and college basketball experts in Brandon Walker and Mark Titus, who one would imagine will be two of the personalities featured most prominently on the show.
At this point, additional details regarding the show have yet to be revealed. But for now, it’s already shaping up to be a much better experience than the one-episode run Barstool Van Talk received on ESPN airwaves eight years ago.
