Barstool’s Dave Portnoy says Brittany Mahomes helped nix John Rocker-Patrick Mahomes Sr. fight

There’s a new development in the ongoing drama between Barstool Sports founder, owner and CEO Dave Portnoy and Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes. And this time it features Brittany Mahomes as well.

This time, it comes from Portnoy alleging Mahomes’ wife Brittany was key to cancelling a planned fight under Barstool’s associated Rough N Rowdy boxing promotion between ex-MLB pitchers John Rocker and Patrick Mahomes Sr., Mahomes’ father.

Portnoy made that claim on Barstool’s The Unnamed Show Friday, starting at around the 30:19 mark:

There, following a discussion about how “The Breast Draft was censored from greatness” that ended with Portnoy saying “I’m not going to jail,” Unnamed Show co-host Kirk Minihane said “You know who might go to jail, by the way, for his 97 f*cking drunk driving arrests (it’s actually three) is Pat Mahomes Sr. Giving this f*cking scumbag money is not…” and then Portnoy chimed in, No, this fight’s canceled.” He then goes on to say he had nothing to do with the Super Bowl LIX Bourbon Street fight between the two that was trying to promote this (and ended with more legal trouble for Mahomes Sr.), and to blame Brittany Mahomes for this:

“They came to us to do this. Like, how would we ever come up with this concept, ‘Oh, let’s put John Rocker vs. Pat Mahomes Sr?’ Who would ever think of that? They came to us, said they hated each other and wanted to fight. Devlin, who does the Rough N’ Rowdy, put it together, like ‘They want to fight, let’s do it.’ Mahomes’ agent, the football player, and Brittany, from what I am told, intervened, and was like ‘There’s no way this fight’s happening. We’re going to cut this guy off if he does it.’ So it’s cancelled.”

That leads to a further discussion of Chiefs’ QB Mahomes’ alleged issues with Barstool. Minihane says “Mahomes is still pulling this bullsh*t. What a p*ssy.” And later on, Portnoy says “I don’t know why he hates us, by the way. Why, because your wife acted like an a**hole and we said she did, and your brother was dancing on Sean Taylor’s tombstone at his dedication, doing a TikTok dance, and we said you probably shouldn’t do that? We’ve been fair, fair to them.

“And then Taylor [Lewan] said we called her a b*tch, and I’m like ‘No, we didn’t. Go find me that quote, Taylor.’ …He’s like ‘You called her a b*tch,’ and I’m like ‘Did we?’ Maybe we did, actually, back in the day. I don’t know.” There’s then some discussion of their coverage of Brittany Mahomes spraying champagne on fans in 2022, and some further criticism of her for that.

It’s notable to hear that this Mahomes-Rocker fight isn’t happening, at least not on Barstool’s platforms. Dave Portnoy had previously talked last year about how their Rough N’ Rowdy fights need to get more PPV buys, and this one certainly had some big names, so it’s a significant cancellation there as well. And it’s interesting to see Portnoy specifically and publicly cite Brittany Mahomes as a reason why. It sounds like the Mahomes-Barstool drama won’t be ending any time soon.
