Bill Belichick has found his calling as a media star (at least for now). But the former New England Patriots head coach has risked overextending himself by lending his voice to many different mediums.
Everyone wanted a piece of Belichick, whether it be the ManningCast or The Pat McAfee Show. That includes Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports.
The Barstool founder and owner revealed that he’d made an offer to Belichick to do a show similar to the one he’s currently doing with Matt Patricia on Underdog Fantasy.
With hindsight being 20/20, Portnoy seems glad that didn’t come to fruition.
“We did talk to him. We were trying to get him to do a show,” Portnoy said Thursday on The Unnamed Show alongside Ryan Whitney and Kirk Minihane. “In hindsight, thank god we didn’t…He is doing so many things. And I think he’s great at ManningCast and a lot of the clips I’m seeing. The show that we would’ve had, he’s doing with (Matt) Patricia and with Underdog. That show, to me, is a dud.
“That’s the one. And we were late to the game. But we were talking about it…It was super late in the game…I actually saw him the other day. I spoke at an Axon Conference — our friend Josh (Isner), and he was there as well.”
When asked about Belichick dressing up for Halloween, Portnoy said he believes everything goes through Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. He said that’s his interpretation of their relationship, but he added that he could certainly be wrong.

Just a tad different than Ryan Clark’s Belichick costume.
Back to the business of Belichick, Portnoy said he never got into the money discussion.
“My interpretation of him when I was talking about him was he was not money motivated; he was intelligence motivated to show he’s still got it with football — and he wants to get back into coaching,” said Portnoy. “That was my interpretation.”
Portnoy added that he believes Belichick will get back into coaching before saying he was “great at the media stuff.”
“Belichick has all the back rivalry stuff that he drops in the ManningCast, like the crowd noise in Indianapolis and things like that,” Portnoy said. “It’s very entertaining…And he takes shots at the Pats non-stop.”
