The Athletic will launch a new audio series around the Copa America and Euro 2024.

On Monday, the New York Times revealed that it will kick off a new series titled The Radar. The audio series will highlight European football and the climb through Copa America and Euro 2024, two massive football tournaments that will occur this summer.

“This compelling series spans 12 episodes and offers in-depth profiles of 12 emerging football talents, all aged 21 or younger,” the Times wrote.

Lucy Oliva and Mike Zimmerman will host the series, which will also feature appearances by The Athletic’s football journalists such as James Horncastle, Jack Lang, and Tom Williams.

“It’s an enormous summer for football on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Adam Jones, director of Audio growth at The Athletic. “We believe the 12 players we’ve selected have the best chances of becoming household names by the end of their respective tournaments. We’re aiming to shine a spotlight on their journey and incredible potential in a storytelling style like only The Athletic can offer.”

The first episode is already available on The Athletic FC Podcast feed and features 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, who has been breaking records for Barcelona and Spain. New episodes will be released daily for the rest of the week.
