Thursday’s edition of The Athletic Football Show began with Nate Tice announcing that it would be his last episode as one of the show’s co-hosts. Tice didn’t reveal where he is heading, but hinted that an announcement will be made soon.
“This will be my last episode as an official member of The Athletic Football Show. It’s a good thing,” Tice said. “It is going to have some great opportunities ahead. It’s a great thing, which many of you will find out very soon. But this is my last episode.”
“It’s an opportunity that you so deserve. I’m so proud of you,” co-host Robert Mays replied. “I’m so proud of where you’re going and what you’ve built for yourself and I know you’re going to crush it.”
It's a bittersweet Athletic Football Show. @Nate_Tice joins me for one last ride, as we tackle the biggest NFL questions we still have post-draft.
Hope you wanna listen to a couple grown men try not to cry.https://t.co/4uSHdNShjI

The son of former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice, Nate Tice is a rising star in the NFL media sphere. The former walk-on quarterback at Wisconsin — where he roomed with Russell Wilson on the road — also spent time in the Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders front offices and provided written content for Bleacher Report and The Athletic before being hired by Yahoo last September.
Co-hosting The Athletic Football Show, however, is the role that Tice has become best known for as the show has built a sizable following since first launching in 2020. In particular, fans have come to appreciate Tice and Mays’ chemistry, as well as their unique perspectives when it comes to the covering the NFL.
As for what’s next, that remains unclear, but based on Tice’s comments, an announcement should be expected soon. Some eagle eyed listeners/Redditors have noted that Tice appeared as a guest on The Bill Simmons Podcast earlier this week, which could potentially hint at The Ringer being his likeliest landing spot.
