While in-game interviews with players, coaches and managers are fairly polarizing, they’re generally predictable. Sometimes, though, predictability goes out the window. That was the case when Tricia Whitaker interviewed Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy during the Apple TV+ broadcast of Friday night’s game between the Brewers and Washington Nationals.
The interview started with Whitaker asking Murphy whether he liked to eat during games. When he confirmed he did, she asked what his food of choice was.
“I like a lot of different things during the game,” Murphy said. “There’s pancakes. Actually, I got a little pocket pancake right here that I munch on.”
Murphy then pulled a pancake out of his pocket then took a bite. Ever the gentleman, he then offered some to Whitaker.
“They’re wonderful, you want some?” the skipper asked.

“I would love some, thank you so much, Pat,” Whitaker said as she grabbed a small piece of the pancake, then took a bite. Oh, those are delicious. Pizza, bagels, what else do you keep in your pocket?”
“Whatever fits,” Murphy replied.
Whitaker also shared the interview on her X (formerly Twitter) account, calling it the “most iconic in-game manager interview you’ll watch.”
