Amazon Prime’s Week 2 broadcast of Thursday Night Football broke network viewership records despite largely not being an overly competitive game on the field. And while their Week 3 broadcast of the New York Jets 24-3 victory over the New England Patriots also wasn’t all that interesting of a game either, ratings were largely positive yet again.

In a press release on Friday, Amazon Prime Video shared their Week 3 viewership numbers for TNF, averaging 13.37 million viewers and peaking at 15.58 million.

It’s a decrease from the season-opening TNF broadcast in Week 2, which brought in an average of 14.96 million viewers and a TNF record peak of 18.09 million. But yet again, it is higher than the average viewership numbers from the 2023-24 NFL season of 11.86 million viewers.

Over the first two TNF broadcasts of the NFL season, ratings are up more 20% from the 2023-24 average viewership numbers, which has to be seen as a positive to start the season.

On top of that, both of Amazon’s studio shows for pre and postgame coverage in Week 3, TNF Tonight and TNF Nightcap, both saw a double-digit percentage increase over last year’s averages.

Coming into the year, TNF play-by-play voice Al Michaels was quite complimentary of the schedule the network received for the 2024-25 season. And thus far, ratings have represented that the schedule they received could be leading to this early viewership increase.

Last year, Amazon saw TNF experience a 23% year-over-year increase over the 2022-23 viewership numbers. And as long as things continue at the rate that we are seeing early on this season, they will be in for another year of TNF growth this season.
