The final edition of Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football in 2024 saw just nine points scored, which predictably mediocre viewership.
Thursday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears averaged 11.04 million viewers according to Jon Lewis of Sports Media Watch. That figure is up 7% versus last year’s TNF finale between the New York Jets-Cleveland Browns (10.29 million viewers) and up 13% versus the Dallas Cowboys-Tennessee Titans game (9.73 million viewers) in 2022, Amazon’s first year airing the midweek package.
Seahawks-Bears was the most-watched Thursday Night Football finale since 2020, though the final game of the package aired exclusively on NFL Network in 2021.
Full season totals will reportedly be available later this week, and it’s expected that Amazon will have a record-setting season. Even though last week’s game in Chicago was up 7% year-over-year, the game was the third least-watched TNF game this season ahead of the Denver Broncos-Los Angeles Chargers one week prior (11.o3 million viewers) and another Broncos game against the New Orleans Saints in October (9.81 million viewers).
Earlier this month, the streamer secured its most-watched game ever during a divisional rivalry between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. That game secured an average audience of 17.3 million viewers.
Amazon will have one more broadcast this season, a Wild Card game during the first weekend of the postseason. It will be the streamer’s first playoff game since becoming a full-time NFL broadcast partner in 2022.
