New York Jets star Garrett Wilson made a catch for the ages Thursday night and it brought back instant memories for Amazon Prime announcer Al Michaels.

Early in the fourth quarter against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football, Wilson leaped high into the air, grabbed a pass one-handed at the back of the end zone and somehow got his shin in bounds for a touchdown.

The catch drew instant comparisons throughout the sports world to the greatest one-handed grab of all time, the play New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 23, 2014. OBJ made that catch on Sunday Night Football. Both plays involved New York receivers playing in MetLife Stadium, but there was one other similarity: Michaels called both games.

Michaels immediately recalled that magical OBJ moment right after officials confirmed Wilson’s catch.

“Well, 10 years ago in this ballpark, on the other side of the field, Odell Beckham made one of the great one-handed grabs of all time, and tonight, it doesn’t get any better than this,” Michaels said.

“That is as good a catch as you’ll see,” Kirk Herbstreit said.

Here’s a look back at OBJ’s great play. Michaels called that game with analyst Cris Collinsworth.

Herbstreit went on to point out that OBJ’s catch started the trend of receivers making acrobatic one-handed catches. Michaels has how been on hand for two of the best of that genre.
