Joe Benigno Manscapped trimmer Joe Benigno on X

Regular listeners of sports podcasts have long been accustomed to unique ad reads, especially for the men’s grooming company Manscaped.

But while such ads are so commonplace that many listeners have become numb to them, WFAN host Joe Benigno’s spin on the electric pubic hair trimmer was so graphic that — for better or worse — you couldn’t help but pay attention to it.

“I don’t know about you, but for years, I struggled with grooming the family jewels. Oh my God, did I have trouble doing this. Do you know what I was using? I was using this!” Benigno said, pulling out a large pair of scissors. “I’m grooming myself down below with this monstrosity of a scissor. You’ve gotta be kidding me. And I was getting long OK, but I was never getting the results I really wanted.

“And then one day, things finally changed for good. I’m grooming myself down below with the scissor and we had a little bit of an accident. Well, it was traumatic. The trauma — nobody wants to have an accident when it comes to the family jewels. There was a little blood. I even had to put a Band-Aid on it. It wasn’t pretty.”

We’ll take your word for it.

Benigno proceeded to swear off using office scissors to groom his pubic region — probably a good call — when one of his friends naturally asked him, “Joe, you having an issue grooming the family jewels.” Benigno responded to the totally normal question by admitting to his previous scissor mishap, at which point his friend recommended he try Manscaped.

And as it turns out, a smoother shave isn’t the only benefit to the company’s “Lawnmower” trimmer.

“Not only were the family jewels groomed to — I guess, as close to perfection as you can get — but my penis looked bigger!” Benigno said. “And let’s be honest: there’s no guy out there who doesn’t want his penis to look bigger!”

I know what you’re probably thinking: isn’t this kind of bizarre for a radio personality who was once accused of sexually harassing a WFAN sales executive? Yes, yes it is.

But as long as Benigno has a presence on the airwaves, there will be ball trimmers to sell. And we can only assume that he has also texted Robert Saleh to let him know about the magic of Manscaped.
