  • The boxing bout of Adrien Broner’s victory over Mikey Garcia in a 12-round, unanimous-decision as part of “Showtime Championship Boxing” on Saturday, July 29 averaged 881,000 viewers and peaking at 937,000 viewers, marking Showtime’s top audience for a live boxing match since Deontay Wilder defeated Bermane Stiverne to win the WBC heavyweight championship on Jan. 17, 2015 (average of 1.24 million viewers, peaked at 1.34 million). Broner surpassed the previous top mark since Wilder-Stiverne of 779,000 viewers (peak of 859,000) set by another Broner bout — his Feb. 18 split-decision win over Adrian Granados.   • Most TV households in the Chicago TV market tuned in to the third game of the Windy City rivalry series between the Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox from Wednesday. July 26 on WLS, the city’s local ABC affiliate. WLS delivered a 6.5 local rating, equivalent to approximately 225,100 homes within the market. The CSN Chicago version of the game with White Sox broadcasters drew a 2.4 rating (83,100 Chicago homes) which is the regional sports network’s highest-rated White Sox game telecast since their 2014 season-opening game (2.7).   • The “2017 Baseball Hall of Fame” induction ceremony from Cooperstown, N.Y. on July 30 on MLB Network dipped to a four-year low in total audience with 259,000 viewers. The ceremony included inductees Tim Raines, Ivan Rodriguez, Jeff Bagwell, former executive John Schuerholz and former MLB commissioner Bud Selig. The Hall of Fame induction viewership in recent years are, as follows: July 24, 2016 — 464,000 viewers; July 26, 2015 — 448,000 viewers; July 27, 2014 — 516,000 viewers; July 28, 2013 (no players were inducted on this date) — 101,000 viewers.

  • MLB Network’s live baseball game action (not counting look-in coverage during “MLB Tonight”) for July 24-29 averaged 255,000 viewers and 69,000 adults 18-49 from the 13 game showcase telecasts, up 15 percent (in viewers) and up 1 percent (in adults 18-49) from the year-ago week (July 25-30, 2016: average of 222,000 viewers/68,000 adults 18-49 from twelve telecasts): also, down 10 percent (in viewers) from two years ago (July 28-Aug. 1, 2015: average of 284,000 viewers from eight telecasts).

  • Golf Channel’s tournaments coverage from July 25 & 27-30:

    • PGA Tour: RBC Canadian Open (July 27-30; Golf Channel only): 356,000 viewers (-15 percent from July 21-24, 2016: 417,000 viewers)
    • LPGA Tour: Ladies Scottish Open (July 27-30): 293,000 viewers
    • Senior Open (July 27-30): 217,000 viewers (-22 percent from July 21-24, 2016: 280,000 viewers)
