The NFL regular season came to an end on Sunday, but ESPN reporter Adam Schefter figures to plenty busy in the days and weeks to come covering the league’s coaching carousel. Black Monday already got off to quite a start for NFL head coaches with the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers making changes on Sunday, while Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak resigned. That creates six current openings and at least a couple more could be coming.
However, Schefter is beginning to settle into his offseason, which will include some NBA reporting (and sideline reporting). Also part of Schefter’s non-football activities will be a new podcast for ESPN, titled Know Them From Adam. The reporter announced on Twitter that the podcast will premiere next Tuesday, Jan. 10.

The latest
When he worked at the Denver Post, Schefter wrote a similar sort of column titled “Know Him (or Her) From Adam,” which included interviews with people such as Jack LaLanne and John Wooden, and he’ll attempt to emulate that for this ESPN podcast. Of course, some of those discussions will be with people in football, but Schefter clearly intends to reach outside of that to talk to others in sports and various industries.
We haven’t seen much interviewing from Schefter — other than his conversation with Greg Hardy in April, which was heavily scrutinized — and long-form interviews are surely different than those he conducts in his regular reporting. But he is obviously relishing the opportunity to stretch a bit outside of football. Interview podcasts are a rather crowded space these days, but Schefter is a known name and if he’s able to attract intriguing guests and have compelling conversations, Know Them From Adam could make an nice addition to ESPN’s podcast lineup.
