As we know, it’s Vin Scully’s final season in Los Angeles Dodgers booth. But late on Wednesday night, Jayson Werth of the Washington Nationals almost ended Vin’s career a few months earlier than planned. Werth hit a foul ball in the 9th inning into Scully’s booth and luckily, he managed to avoid it and after a quick search, he found it then threw it to a fan in the Dodger Stadium stands below, all the while, still calling the play-by-play. And it showed even at 88 years young, Vin is still fleet afoot.
"..haven't had a ball come in here in awhile …now look for a child, couldn't find one, so dropped it down. Great moment in sports, right?"

Here’s how Jason Benetti and Rick Sutcliffe described the foul ball on ESPN:
Of course, Twitter was afire of the foul ball:
Legend has it… if Vin throws you a ball, you'll have good luck for 20 years!

A foul ball via Jayson Werth's bat went into Vin Scully's booth. Scully retrieved it off floor, all the while broadcasting, & threw to fans

Some lucky fan just got a foul ball dropped by God from the heavens — that is, by Vin Scully from his booth. https://t.co/74Gc8AFtP1

Just goes to show that Vin still is professional as ever, not missing a beat in the booth. And that wasn’t even the main story of the game as the Dodgers came back to win on Yasiel Puig’s walkoff Little League home run to beat the Nationals, 4-3.
