Von Miller takes light shots at Cam Newton during surprise SNL apperance

Fresh off earning Most Valuable Player honors at Super Bowl 50, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller made a surprise appearance on this week’s Saturday Night Live, to take some light-hearted shots at Cam Newton.

In honour of the recent discovery of gravitational waves, Miller appeared on the Weekend Update segment to talk science, a topic he claims to have studied in college. (He majored in poultry science at Texas A&M.) Here’s how he describes the new discovery, which quickly takes a turn to fun shots at Newton.

Miller: “Let me put it like this, picture two huge forces slamming together, like say, me and Cam Newton.” 

Michael Che: “You’re just talking about football man” 

Miller: “Nah, I’m talking about science. Now these forces that collided make gravity waves, like when I collided with Cam Newton forcing the fumble.” 

Che: “It sounds like you’re bragging, are you sure you’re not bragging about this.” 

Miller: “Common, I told you this is science. These waves are everywhere in the universe, just like I’m everywhere when Cam Newton closes his eyes.” 

Miller throws a barb about how the discovery, which nobody thought would happen, is similar to nobody thinking the Bronco’s D could hold the Panthers to 10 points, before proclaiming “the discovery proves that Einstein’s theory that M.E. equals MVP.”  I don’t know if that’s scientifically accurate, but who am I to doubt a man who studied science in college?

Miller’s script-reading chops won’t win any MVP awards, but it was a fun, quick spotlight, which was respectfully boastful and was a welcome addition to a solid episode.
