On Tuesday night, Georgetown beat Creighton 74-73 to move to 13-8 on the season and 6-2 in the Big East. But given the audio and video reaction from announcer Rich Chvotkin, you would be forgiven if you thought you were listening to the days of Patrick Ewing and the elder John Thompson.
Just watch this video of Chvotkin’s call of the final seconds, as he stands up from the broadcast table to celebrate the win as fans cheer behind him. He might still be chanting “Hoyas win! Hoyas win! Hoyas win!”
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6… 19 shouts of “Hoyas win!” And how about sticking the landing to the postgame show? That may be the most impressive part of the call.
Sure, it may just be a regular season game in a non-Power 5 conference, but this kind of passion and enthusiasm is what college basketball is all about.
