Pierre McGuire is an enigma. He’s well-known in hockey circles. He had a disastrous stint as coach of the Hartford Whalers. He also suffers from extreme overexposure working practically every night of the first two rounds of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs for NBC Sports Group. And while hockey fans do their best to tolerate McGuire’s omnipresence, they find behavior as we’re about to outline very hard to ignore.

Just before Monday night’s Game 3 of Washington Capitals-Pittsburgh Penguins series, Pierre interviewed Matt Cullen of the Penguins and after it was over, this happened:

Why Pierre? Why? If another sideline reporter did this, he or she would get taken to the woodshed. Instead, because it’s McGuire, we just shake our heads. If we could suggest just one thing, it would be for McGuire not to slap player’s butts. It just looks creepy.
