HOUSTON, TEXAS – APRIL 04: Kris Jenkins #2 of the Villanova Wildcats shoots the game-winning three pointer to defeat the North Carolina Tar Heels 77-74 in the 2016 NCAA Men’s Final Four National Championship game at NRG Stadium on April 4, 2016 in Houston, Texas. TBS’ first NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship Game could not gone any better after a Final Four that could not have gone any worse. A barnburner between North Carolina and Villanova with dueling three pointers at the end with Marcus Paige hitting a game-tying three pointer with 4.7 seconds left, then Kris Jenkins hitting the buzzer beater with no time left to give Villanova the 77-74 win.

And thankfully, TBS did not do away with Luther Vandross’ version of One Shining Moment as previously announced. NE-YO’s version which was going to replace the Vandross rendition played on truTV and TNT instead. The CBS/TBS montage for this year did not disappoint from shots of Yale from its first NCAA Tournament win, Providence, Northern Iowa’s joy in the first round to agony in the second round all the way through to the National Championship including Paige’s and Jenkins’ shots at the end.

You could not have asked for a better ending and montage for TBS’ first National Championship game.
