It was a wild and crazy Saturday afternoon of college football action, but few games in recent history have ended the way Tennessee and Georgia did in Athens. Georgia and Tennessee each tossed touchdown passes of at least 40 yards in the final 15 seconds of the game, but it was the Vols who would celebrate as winners with Josh Dobbs’ Hail Mary pass to Jauan Jennings as time expired.

The game was called on CBS as the SEC Game of the Week, which was good because CBS got to share with us the hometown call of the game-winning play as called by Bob Kesling. We’ll forgive analyst Tim Priest for stepping on Bob’s moment on the call by interrupting with “Caught! Tennessee wins!”. It’s part of the charm of the home-team announcers calling the action, and it was easy to get caught up in the emotion of the moment as it unfolded.

CBS continues to do a solid job bringing us their SEC game of the week, and one of the best things they do on a weekly basis is bring us the full audio clip of the winning team’s radio call of a key play. Once again, that offers something unique to the broadcast and helps make this signature moment a little more genuine for the viewer.
