The Mets broadcast crew are one of the best in sports because they know how to have fun and entertain, even in the midst of a long baseball season and games that might not be competitive in the later innings. In fact, that might be when the trio of Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez are at their best. Monday night was no exception as Hernandez provided some comic relief in the middle of an 8-1 game against the Washington Nationals.

Hernandez was talking about some issues with the camera in the broadcast booth that shows the announcers. Almost on cue, as he tapped it with a blue highlighter, the glass legitimately shattered. That led to raucous laughter in the Mets booth.

“It’s not coming out of my paycheck, we’ve got insurance on this thing.”

After a long baseball season, everyone needs these kind of moments to give some levity, even if it’s at the expense of some equipment that is very expensive.
