Poor Jon Sciambi. The veteran ESPN play-by-play man seems to be the foil for Wednesday Night Baseball analysts Rick Sutcliffe and Eduardo Perez. During last night’s Detroit-Kansas City telecast, there was a short feature in which Sutcliffe asked Royals pitcher Wade Davis “If I were to get into a fight with Jon Sciambi, who would win?” Davis’ reply set off Sutcliffe and Perez into a huge fit of laughter in the broadcast booth while all Sciambi could do was sit in silence.
You had to feel for Jon who looked as if he was told that his dog had died. And for those watching ESPN, it led to some great reaction as well:
@Sut_ESPN That was hilarious!! The looks on the face of @BoogSciambi were priceless.

I just saw probably my favorite regular season baseball broadcast moment of all time, but poor @BoogSciambi. Took it in stride tho. #pro

@BoogSciambi I didn't know your name either, but if it makes you feel any better, I'd recognize your voice anywhere! #NowIKnowYourName

I think @BoogSciambi tonight took being on the other end of the joke as well as anyone ever. #salute

Boog has had to put up with a lot. Back in November, he spent three days in Hawaii with Bill Walton and looked totally wiped out on his final day.
Perhaps now, everyone will know who is Jon Sciambi. And it’s a long season. Jon will have plenty of opportunities to get some payback.
