Comedian John Oliver ripped into the New York Yankees, and particularly COO Lonn Trost on Sunday night for comments he made on WFAN. The team is no longer accepting tickets printed off of StubHub, because Trost said that fans who paid full price for premium seats in the Legends Club would not feel comfortable sitting with “someone who has never sat in a premium location. So that’s a frustration to our existing fanbase.”

So of course, being the quick and witty person that Oliver is, he announced that he and his show had bought two seats in the Legends Club section for three games of the Yank’s opening week. Oliver said they will be selling the tickets for 25 cents apiece. The tickets typically sell for upwards of $1,000 apiece. This certainly isn’t a deal you’d find on StubHub.

The catch? Oliver said, “You must dress like you have never sat in a premium location before. What that means is up to you.” As he held what appeared to be the six tickets that he and the show would be selling.

“We will pick the winner of the looks we like the best,” said Oliver. “The Yankees are not involved in this contest in any way,” he added, before concluding with, “Enjoy the game and please give A-Rod our best.”

Oliver and his show have always been quick to call out anybody for their nonsense, especially when it comes to somebody being elitist, or just a jerk in general. The results that come from this should be amazing, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how the Yankees react to Oliver’s contest, if they are bold enough to do so.
