Here at Awful Announcing, we fancy ourselves the go-to source for any kind of notable stories involving TV announcers and sports media people. So when we realized that we missed a story last week involving Joe Buck, Brett Favre, and urination, we realized we had let ourselves and our audience down. We promise that the next time Joe Buck tells a story about the time he peed in a trash can, we will be there to bring it to you. It’s our Joe Buck urination guarantee.
As you may have surmised, Buck appeared on the NFL Network’s Dave Dameshek Football Program last week when he recounted a story about the time he had to call a touchdown live on television while peeing into the trash bin.
As the story goes, it was Buck’s first year as a play-by-play commentator for Fox NFL games. The Green Bay Packers were playing a home game in Milwaukee and the first half was taking forever to end. All the while, Buck’s bladder kept giving him grief.
Eventually, someone tried to give him a water bottle but he was concerned about spillage. So during a commercial break he looked around and found a trash can with a bag inside. Perfect. Except…he ended up getting stage fright (It happens). He eventually gets the flow going but then the game restarts. Unfortunately for him, there’s no stopping now. Double unfortunately for him, Brett Favre decided this was the perfect moment to throw a touchdown. And so, Joe Buck called it like a pro for millions while peeing into a trash can.
Even if you hate Joe Buck, you gotta give him props for that.
