To say Max Kellerman has had a rather interesting media career would be a vast understatement. We’ve chronicled his rise, fall and subsequent rise again here at Awful Announcing. And while Kellerman is known for his boxing analysis on HBO, his “Embrace Debate” role as original Around the Horn host and now First Take co-debator, you may not know of a lesser-known role from back in the mid-1990’s.

Max, and his late brother Sam formed a group aptly named “Max & Sam” and actually released an album. According to Complex, their best known song was “Rumble Young Man Rumble.” And recently on Reddit, someone linked to a video showing the video of “Rumble Young Man Rumble.” There are plenty of boxing references to Roberto Duran “got hands of stone like the champ from Panama,” Mike Tyson and Pernell Whitaker.

Take a look:

Kellerman even discussed the song on his old ESPN Radio Los Angeles show with Marcellus Wiley and The Game in 2013:

The Game said, “In 1994, I sounded ten times better than you … Don’t quit your day job.”

As we know by now, Kellerman went to TV where he hooked up with ESPN, Fox, CNN, HBO and ESPN again. It’s been a rather diverse career, but we can imagine how things might have turned out had his rap career taken off. Actually, no we can’t.
