The 2004 film Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy has spawned a sequel and a ton of references and homages (including an ESPN spoof this year), and now Funny or Die (which has Anchorman director Adam McKay and Anchorman star Will Ferrell as two of its three founders) has mashed up parts of the original film with footage from Game Seven of the Cubs’ World Series win to show what Anchorman would have looked like if it was about the Channel 4 News Team watching the Cubs’ climactic game. Here’s the clip:

That’s very well done, especially with sportscaster Champ Kind (David Koechner)’s liberal usage of his “Whammy!” catchphrase and Ron Burgundy (Ferrell) rolling his eyes at the self-explanatory tarp comments, and they were given an excellent in by the Cubs’ players referencing Burgundy’s famous line about the glass case of emotion. Even the Cubs’ Twitter account got in on the fun with their reaction to this:

Well played, Funny or Die. Now, how about mashing up Talladega Nights with actual NASCAR footage?
