FOX Sports accidentally puts Everton on south coast of England

Everton faced fourth division side Carlisle United in the FA Cup Sunday. Usually when a lower league team hosts a Premier League team in a game like this, the network pregame show will point out where that game is on a map and give viewers a hint to wherever the game is in England.

FOX at least got the home team correct, Carlisle was correctly located nestled in almost the northernmost part of England, near the Scotland border. But when they tried to show where Everton was in comparison, FOX went a little hyperbolic and made Everton’s trip to Brunton Park a bit further than it actually was.

In case you don’t know, Everton is in Liverpool and despite it actually being a two hour drive, it’s still in northwest England and is one of the closer trips to make to Carlisle for a professional soccer team. FOX Sports mistakenly put Everton all the way in the south coast of England, in one of the furthest places away from Carlisle.

Looking at the map posted, it looked like Everton was placed where Bournemouth or Southampton would usually be and while that would be a pretty long trip (five and a half hour drive) for England’s standards, that wasn’t really the case. In the end, Everton beat Carlisle 3-0 and they can thank their lucky stars the person at FOX who put that map together is not doing their travel arrangements back to Liverpool.
