The Oakland A’s are continuing their policy bringing back former players as broadcasters. In the past the team has tapped former players Scott Hatteberg, Shooty Babitt and Eric Chavez. This year, it will be former pitcher Mark Mulder’s turn to be part of the A’s television team.

Mulder will join Comcast SportsNet California’s team of Glenn Kuiper and Ray Fosse for the 2016 season and call 20 games. He’s had TV experience with ESPN on Baseball Tonight so Mulder won’t be coming in cold to the medium.

When Comcast SportsNet California utilizes Mulder, Fosse will move to the radio booth to join Ken Korach and Vince Cotroneo. This has been done in the past when the other analysts have joined Kuiper.

Mulder has made a comeback with the Angels in 2014, but appears to have retired. So he’ll continue to pursue a second career as an analyst for now.

Babitt is also the pregame and postgame analyst on A’s games for CSN California so there is the potential for Mulder to parlay his gig into a full-time position down the line. The A’s apparently like utilizing past players each season to fill spots.

Mulder amassed 103 wins in a career that spanned between 2000 and 2008 with Oakland and St. Louis as well as the aborted 2014 comeback with the Angels. Comcast SportsNet California has not announced when Mulder will call his first game for the network.
