One of ESPN’s leading voices in the world of boxing will continue to do so for years to come. The senior boxing writer has signed a multi-year agreement to remain at ESPN.

Rafael will continue his role as writer and analyst for ESPN.com and other ESPN online properties. He’ll also continue contributing to ESPN The Magazine, appearing on SportsCenter and appearing on other ESPN TV and radio shows whenever boxing is a topic of interest. He’ll also be a part of any special coverage around major boxing events as they come up.

Rafael voiced (and then deleted) concern over the way fellow ESPNer Skip Bayless was covering the Mayweather-Pacquaio fight in May. He also received criticism of his own for comments about Mayweather’s fight against Andre Berto. All part of working at ESPN these days.

Rafael began writing about boxing for USA Today in 2000 and has been with ESPN since 2005. He was awarded the Nat Fleischer Award for Career Excellence in Boxing Journalism from the Boxing Writers Association of America in 2013.
