In the third day of Erin Andrews’ civil trial against the owners and the management company of the Nashville Marrriott at Vanderbilt University, her father took the stand to talk about the effect of a stalker taking a nude video had on her. Steve Andrews, a television reporter in Tampa, FL told the jury that his daughter has changed since the video hit the Internet.
He said, “She’s mad. She’s scared. She’s terrified. She’s depressed. She cries. She’s full of anxiety. She’s a very, very changed person. She’s not the girl that we used to know at all.”
Andrews said he could not believe the Nashville Marriott’s staff would give his daughter’s room to her stalker and that he stood outside her room to videotape her. He also strongly denied rumors that the video was a publicity stunt, “Let me tell you something. Erin Andrews didn’t need more attention, and she certainly didn’t want attention like that.”
Back in 2008, when Erin was working at ESPN, she was in Nashville to cover a college football game when her stalker, Michael Barrett unscrewed a peephole and filmed her nude while in her hotel room. Andrews is suing Barrett, the hotel owners, West End Hotel Partners and the management company, Windsor Capital Group. She alleges the hotel and its staff were negligent in giving Barrett her information on where she was staying and allowing him to book the room next to her.
Barrett was arrested in 2009 and served time for stalking Andrews.
