I could go either way on this one. Earlier today ESPN’s NBA reporter Brian Windhorst appeared to fall asleep while doing a live hit during on SportsCenter. You can be the judge below.

Little more ambiguous than this Francesa nap in middle of an interview.
Cari Champion who was interviewing Windhorst, tweeted in defense of Windhorst.
He didn't. Looks that way https://t.co/sq1OYMi5gr

Windhorst would later tweet out an explanation that he was merely looking down at his phone which seems plausible after watching more closely. Even if true, Windhorst does a pretty awful job at multitasking as several seconds of silence on live TV go by with his head tilted down and his eyes focused on his phone, which was certainly an awkward moment either way.
When @AdamSchefter looks at his phone on TV he gets endorsement deals. When I do people think I have narcolepsy. #SportsCenterProblems

One thing that sticks out is while Schefter has been known to whip out his phone and work on breaking stories while on air, it’s typically done in rare instances at the most peak points of the NFL news cycle like the beginning of free agency. Late March for the NBA is not exactly the same thing and let’s be real, Windhorst is certainly not on the same level of a national reporter as Schefter is. That’s a long way of saying, it’s hard for us to believe anything was THAT pressing on Windhorst’s phone that would necessitate tuning out a live television interview.
