If you’ve been following the NHL at all over the last decade, you know that the Washington Capitals are somewhat snakebitten when it comes to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  Since the 2007-2008 season, the Capitals have won their division six times and never even reached a conference final, let alone lift the Stanley Cup.

So after another unceremonious early postseason exit this week thanks to a series defeat to the Pittsburgh Penguins, CSN Mid-Atlantic anchor Michael Jenkins did the only thing he really could do.

Drink.

“You can do anything you can if you put your mind to it.  It’s all one big lie.  Caps were supposed to win it all this season, they put their mind to it, look what happened.  Crushing disappointment.  So, give up on your dreams.”

Forget all these themed sportscasts and Prince tributes and everything.  This is a sportscast that finally tells it like it is.
