This morning as the world waits for Kevin Durant’s free agency decision, something odd happened.  A CBS Sports video appeared on Yahoo.com that talked about the ramifications of Durant signing with… the Boston Celtics.

The video, entitled “Durant’s Decision: KD will join Horford on the Celtics” can still be viewed at this link.  It was joined by the following description:

Kevin Durant shocked the basketball world and has decided to join Al Horford in Boston. Zach Harper joins Ryan Bass to discuss whether KD’s decision immediately makes the Celtics championship contenders.

Either CBS just broke the biggest story of the year and didn’t choose to promote it on any of their social media platforms (and on Yahoo’s website no less)… or this was a pre-taped video that was accidentally published.  I’m going to go out on a reallllllllly long limb here and guess it was Option B.

Pre-taping segments talking about potential breaking news is nothing new.  In fact, it’s done fairly regularly in the media world.

Of course, Durant really could announce he’s signing with the Celtics, which means this would be a stroke of luck and/or genius.

UPDATE: Nope, Durant signed with Golden State.
